No-Oven Stovetop Bread
Ingredients:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon instant yeast
¾ cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough:
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Let the Dough Rise:
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Divide the Dough:
After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 2-4 equal portions, depending on the size of bread you want.
Cook the Bread:
Preheat a nonstick skillet over low to medium heat. Lightly oil the skillet if needed. Flatten each dough portion into a round, about 1 inch thick, and place it in the skillet. Cover with a lid and cook for 10-12 minutes on the first side, until golden brown.
Flip and Cook:
Flip the bread, cover again, and cook for another 8-10 minutes, until the bread is cooked through and golden on both sides.
Cool and Serve:
Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing or serving.
