Caramelized Onion Meatloaf Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Caramelized Onion Topping:
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven:
Set the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare Meatloaf Mixture:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, pork, chopped onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
3. Shape and Bake:
Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it on a baking sheet or loaf pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes.
4. Caramelize Onions:
While the meatloaf bakes, melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until soft. Stir in brown sugar and cook until golden and caramelized.
5. Add Topping:
Remove the meatloaf from the oven. Spread the caramelized onions on top and return to the oven for 10 more minutes.
6. Serve:
Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with thyme if desired and serve warm.
