Stuffed Gulab Jamuns with Cream and Pistachio Filling
A decadent twist on the beloved classic dessert!
Ingredients
1 cup milk powder
¼ cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp baking soda
2 tbsp ghee
2-3 tbsp milk (adjust as needed for the dough)
For the Filling:
½ cup fresh cream or thick whipped cream
3 tbsp finely chopped pistachios
1 tbsp powdered sugar
For the Syrup:
1 ½ cups sugar
2 cups water
1 tsp rose water
3-4 cardamom pods, crushed
Garnish:
2 tbsp finely chopped pistachios
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Syrup
In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and crushed cardamom pods. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
Stir in rose water and keep warm.
Step 2: Make the Filling
In a bowl, mix cream, chopped pistachios, and powdered sugar.
Refrigerate for 15 minutes to firm up.
Step 3: Prepare the Gulab Jamun Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, flour, and baking soda.
Add ghee and mix until crumbly. Gradually add milk, kneading gently, to form a smooth, soft dough. Rest for 10 minutes.
Step 4: Stuff the Gulab Jamuns
Divide the dough into small, equal portions.
Flatten each portion and place a small amount of the cream-pistachio filling in the center. Carefully seal the edges and roll into smooth balls.
Step 5: Fry the Jamuns
Heat oil or ghee in a deep pan over medium-low heat.
Fry the jamuns, stirring gently, until they turn golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 6: Soak in Syrup
Immediately place the fried jamuns into the warm syrup. Soak for at least 2 hours to allow them to absorb the syrup.
Step 7: Garnish and Serve
Garnish the stuffed gulab jamuns with chopped pistachios.
Serve warm or chilled for a heavenly dessert experience!
