Homemade Rainbow Bouncy Balls 🌈
Bring science, color, and fun together with this easy DIY craft! These homemade rainbow bouncy balls are perfect for kids, parties, or hands-on learning at home.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon white glue
- 1/2 teaspoon borax powder
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon warm water
- Food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
- 1/4 cup warm water (for borax solution)
Instructions
• Prepare the Borax Solution: In a small bowl, dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of borax powder into 1/4 cup of warm water. Stir until fully dissolved.
• Make the Glue Mixture: In a separate bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of white glue, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1 tablespoon warm water, and a few drops of food coloring for your first color. Stir until smooth.
• Add More Colors: Divide the glue mixture into six portions. Add different food coloring to each portion: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
• Combine Solutions: Slowly pour some borax solution into each colored glue bowl while stirring continuously. The mixture will thicken and become rubbery.
• Layer the Colors: Take a small piece from each color and stack them in your hand to form a layered rainbow.
• Shape the Ball: Roll the layered dough into a ball. The more you roll it, the firmer and bouncier it becomes.
• Let It Dry: Allow the rainbow ball to sit for 10–15 minutes to firm up.
• Test the Bounce: Drop your ball on a hard surface and see how high it bounces!
Tips & Tricks
- Rainbow Layers: Make each layer the same size for a cleaner color gradient.
- Bounce Quality: Roll longer for a firmer, bouncier ball.
- Storage: Keep in an airtight container when not in use to prevent drying.
