Decadent Tuxedo Cake Delight
Ingredients:
– 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup buttermilk
– 1 cup softened unsalted butter
– 4 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
– ½ teaspoon salt
– 1 cup hot water
– 1 cup white chocolate chips
– 1 cup dark chocolate chips
– Whipped cream for topping
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
4. In another bowl, combine the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
5. Slowly pour in the hot water, stirring until the batter is smooth and well combined.
6. Fold in the white chocolate chips.
7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
9. Once cooled, place one layer of cake on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of whipped cream on top. Sprinkle half of the dark chocolate chips over the cream.
10. Top with the second cake layer. Cover the top and sides with more whipped cream and decorate with the remaining dark chocolate chips.
11. Chill for at least 1 hour before slicing to allow the flavors to meld.
